1. What happens if I can convince some colleagues to use the simulations?
You can use the ISIS Referral Program to receive credit for future modules if
people that you invite to ISIS end up subscribing to any of the modules. For
current Referral Program details, see the menu option in the ISIS Application
Profile screen entitled "Referral Program".
2. Who can use ISIS?
ISIS has been designed for anyone who has an interest in diabetes, or has an
interest in learning more about insulin and diabetes control.
3. How do I use the Insulin Simulation Instruction System?
You must first register by pressing the “Sign Up Today” button, identifying
the modules that you are interested in and then paying for those simulation
modules using our secure online payment processing provider, PayPal. Once
the payment has been authorized, you are taken directly into the main ISIS
home page which allows you access to a number of activities, including
running the simulations.
4. What do you do with the personal information that I provide to ISIS?
Privacy is extremely important to us. We collect a minimum amount of personal
information from you and we promise to not release any information that could
identify you specifically without your prior knowledge and consent, such as
to an accrediting organization to receive credit for the courses taken. We
DO NOT collect nor store any credit card information. This is handled
directly by our secure online payment processing provider, PayPal. For a
more detailed look at our privacy statement and policies,
follow this link.
5. Is payment for each module a recurring (monthly) charge?
No, each simulation module is a one time fee.
6. How many times can I run each simulation?
While you can run each simulation up to 4 times each, the reference library,
blog and history associated with each case is accessible at any time with no
additional charge.
7. How do I receive CME credit for the simulations that I complete?
ISIS tracks all of the cases that you have successfully completed for
credit with an accrediting agency. You simply request a Certificate of
Completion from ISIS at any time, and ISIS will produce the certificate and
e-mail it directly to you. You can print it out, or file it away electronically
for future reference. Since ISIS is an accredited educational program, you
simply report this to your accrediting agency so that you will receive
proper credit.
8. Can I use ISIS to treat my patients?
No, ISIS is a simulation-based learning tool and it is not meant to be used
as a diagnostic or clinical tool. ISIS has been designed by professionals
to teach specific aspects regarding insulin and diabetes control that can
be incorporated into daily practice, but can not be and should not be used
in isolation.
9. Who wrote the scenarios?
The ISIS scenarios were primarily written by Dr. David Miller, MD FRCPC Cert
Endo, with the assistance and review of a large
number of other physicians. For a complete list of participants, please go
to the ISIS Program Design Committee on the
Medical Design Committee page.
